Through this Privacy Statement, Huurzone informs you about how your personal data is handled.

Processing of Personal Data by Huurzone

Huurzone is a platform that displays an overview of all rental property advertisements and through which house seekers can respond to ads. To make this possible, we process your personal data. For example, because you create an account on Huurzone or respond to a rental property.

Personal Data You Provide to Us

We only process personal data that you provide to us. This may include:

  • Information you fill in when creating an account on Huurzone, such as your name, date of birth, email address, contact details, your profile photo, your income (and that of your partner), your education level, and Facebook profile;
  • Information you fill in when posting an ad, such as contact details;
  • Information you provide to us because you contact us for a question or complaint, such as payment details;
  • Technical data you provide to us because you visit our website, such as your IP address, the device you use to visit our website and the pages you view; and
  • Any other personal data we obtain directly or indirectly from you.

Processing Purposes and Legal Grounds

Your personal data is processed for the following purposes:

  • Registering an account on Huurzone and using Huurzone's services, including features like notifications of new properties or displaying properties based on your provided profile;

Retention Period

Huurzone does not retain your data longer than necessary.

Account on Huurzone

Huurzone retains your data as long as you have an account with Huurzone. If you haven't logged in for a period of one (1) year or longer, the account including associated data will be deleted.

You can, of course, delete your account at any time. After deleting the account, we automatically apply a so-called "cooling-off period", during which data remains available for 14 days to undo deletion. If you wish for Huurzone to delete your data immediately, you can submit a request to Huurzone. Reference is made to the provisions in this Privacy Statement regarding your rights as a data subject.

If you have filled in a contact form on the Huurzone website or have contacted Huurzone in any other way, we will retain your data as long as is necessary depending on the nature of your question, request, or complaint. After that, we will archive your data for a while, so it remains available for new contact received from you.

Log Files

Our website uses so-called log files, in which access data of visited pages are stored. For more information on this, refer to the provisions in this Privacy Statement on 'Cookies'. Log files are automatically destroyed after three (3) months.

Your Rights

Based on applicable legislation, you have various rights concerning the processing of your personal data. We list these for you:

  • Right to data portability: the right to transfer the data we have stored relating to you in a common, machine-readable format, or to request that they be sent to another data controller.
  • Withdrawal of consent: you have this right to the extent we process your data based on your consent. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. We will then immediately cease the processing.

Exercising the rights above is free of charge, except in cases of abuse. You can exercise these rights by contacting us via the contact details at the bottom of this Privacy Statement. We will respond to questions and requests within a month. Should answering your specific question or request unexpectedly take more time, we will inform you of this within this period. We may request further proof of your identity in the context of questions and requests related to personal data processing. This is to prevent us from disclosing your personal data to the wrong party or inaccurately altering your data.

We would also like to point out that most of the rights described above are not absolute. There may be circumstances that prevent us from complying with a specific request. We will, of course, inform you of this with an explanation.

Landlords

If you respond to an advertisement via Huurzone, we provide that message, including your contact details, to the landlord. This allows the landlord to contact you to arrange a viewing or answer any questions. You choose what information you share with the landlord.

Other

Furthermore, we will not provide your personal data to third parties, unless this is legally required and permitted. An example is that the police request your personal data from us in the context of an investigation. Huurzone always investigates the extent to which they should actually cooperate with such a request and will ensure that this provision is limited to the strictly necessary.

Cookies

Our website may use cookies. When you visit our website, your IP address is automatically stored in the log files of our web server. This is necessary for us to be able to display the website to you and manage and secure the web server properly and adequately. We collect personal data via cookies or similar techniques, including but not limited to:
