Every day, we scan and index thousands of rental ads. As a result, we often receive questions about how our platform works and how to search for properties efficiently. In this FAQ, we’ve answered the most common questions so you can move forward quickly. Topics include responding to a property, setting search filters, or receiving notifications about new listings.

General questions
Huurzone is an online platform that has specialized in automatically searching the Dutch rental housing market since 2018. Every hour, we scan over 4500 websites to map out the current rental offerings. This ensures that you always have access to the latest available rental properties, without having to scour numerous sites yourself.
At Huurzone, everything is about convenience and speed. We gather the listings in one place and check availability daily. Because we operate independently and do not collaborate with real estate agents, you get an honest and complete overview of rental properties throughout the Netherlands. This way, you'll never miss an opportunity for your ideal home!

If you send us a message via our email address or the contact form, we will do our best to respond within five working days. We aim to respond to Premium members' questions within one working day. We strive to provide as clear and comprehensive an answer as possible, so you know exactly where you stand. If you are a member of Huurzone, it helps to mention your account ID when asking your question. You can find this account ID on the overview page after logging in.
If your question is general, you can also send a message via Facebook or WhatsApp. Please note: we cannot answer account-related questions via these channels. If your question concerns your account, please contact us via email or the contact form!

My Profile
If you go to the login page, you will find a button "Forgot password?". Through this button, you can request a new password for your account. You only need to enter your email address here. We will then automatically send you an email with a new password. Please note: the email with the new password might end up in your spam folder.
Once logged into your account, you can navigate to the "Personal Profile" page. On this page, you can update your personal situation. For example, you can indicate if you have a new job or if your family composition has changed.
The listings
Huurzone scans and indexes thousands of websites every hour to map the current offer of private sector rental properties in the Netherlands. You'll find a wide range of homes with us, from apartments and studios to rooms and villas. Each property listing specifies whether it's offered furnished, semi-furnished, or unfurnished. This gives you a clear picture of the condition of the property and helps you quickly determine if it meets your needs. Huurzone helps you find the right rental offer more quickly and efficiently!
Huurzone simplifies your search for rental properties by constantly scanning and indexing the rental listings in the Netherlands. You can search by price, location, and the condition of the property (bare, furnished, or semi-furnished). Additionally, you can filter homes based on the number of rooms and the living space.
To ensure you don't miss out on any properties, you can set up an email alert. Specify what you’re looking for, and as soon as a rental property matching your criteria becomes available, you'll receive a notification. This way, you’re always up-to-date with the latest listings without the need to constantly search!
No, on Huurzone there is no waiting list or lottery. You can immediately respond to properties and get in touch with a landlord. The landlord can then contact you and hopefully invite you for a viewing.
Huurzone.nl aims to showcase the entire rental housing market in the Netherlands. Every day, we retrieve these listings from the websites of estate agents. Huurzone believes it's important for home-seekers to have a central place to search for their dream home rather than navigating through various separate websites.
A growing number of estate agents have now joined Huurzone and automatically supply their listings. This content is fully visible on both the agent's website and Huurzone.nl. Sometimes an agent might not permit their listings to be displayed, in which case we can only show them partially. Huurzone, like other search engines, retains the right to display this information. Ultimately, this enhances property visibility, leading to a quicker match with a suitable tenant!
Huurzone makes every effort to incorporate the full range of rental properties available from estate agents. However, sometimes an agent may choose not to display their complete portfolio on Huurzone. As Huurzone aims to have a comprehensive selection centrally accessible for home seekers, and takes steps to include it regardless, we might only display this selection in a limited way. In such cases, you can contact your agent to ask them to connect with Huurzone.nl. There might also be an error in the integration between your agent and Huurzone. You can inquire about this through our contact form!
If you come across an error in a property ad on Huurzone.nl, you can easily report it to us. Each property ad has a button labeled "Report an error". Simply fill out the form and click the "submit report" button. We will start working on your report right away!
The free Standard Account
Creating a free Standard Account is very simple. Follow these steps to set up an account in just a few seconds:
- Open the registration page
- Enter your details and agree to the terms and conditions
Your free account (Standard Account) for Huurzone is now created! You will receive an email containing your account details. We recommend that after registration you complete your personal profile and search profile. You will then receive alerts as soon as new rental properties become available that meet your criteria.
You can sign up for the property alert with a Standard Account. This way, you receive a daily overview of the new properties that match the preferences from your search profile. Make sure your search profile is as complete as possible!
The Standard Account is free indefinitely, until you upgrade to a Premium Account. A Premium Account only becomes active after the first payment is made. To view all the features of the Standard Account: click here.
To delete your Standard Account, you need to log in to your Huurzone profile. Here you will find a button labeled delete account. Once you click on this, your account will be deleted. You will receive an email confirmation after the deletion.
The Premium Account
On Huurzone, you can choose between two types of accounts: the free Standard Account and a paid Premium Account. The Premium Account costs 29 euros per month. Payments are made via direct debit. The account is renewed monthly, until cancelled. Currently, we have the following offers: pay only 39 euros for the first 2 months or only 49 euros for the first 3 months.
You can cancel the subscription at any time. This can be done easily in your account with the "End Premium Account" button. If you want to avoid automatic renewal, make sure to unsubscribe by the last day of the current period. It is also possible to unsubscribe earlier, and the account will remain active until the end of the current period.
The first payment is made via iDeal, which authorizes us to set up a direct debit mandate. Subsequent payments for the Premium Account are processed through automatic direct debit. Payments are handled and processed by our partner Stichting Mollie Payments with creditor ID: NL08ZZZ502057730000.
With the Premium Account, you can use all features on Huurzone. You can find a complete overview here. Some examples: you can view all listings and contact landlords directly. You can also receive property alerts and search without ads. Additionally, you can access all property features, view all photos, and relevant location details.
So, with the Premium Account, you simply have more options on the Huurzone platform. The fee you pay is for the use of these extra functionalities. We do not facilitate negotiations for you upon payment. If you're urgently looking for a new rental home, get a Premium Account with Huurzone, so you can start your search for a great living space!
You can choose the duration of your Premium Account: 1 month, 3 months, or 6 months. After this period, the account is automatically renewed for 1 month at a time, unless you cancel your Premium Account in the meantime.
Found a property and want to avoid account renewal? Unsubscribe before the end of the period. This can be done at any time. Your Premium Account will remain active until the last day of the period and will then be reverted to a Standard Account.
Example: if you upgrade on October 1st, your account will remain active until October 31st (30 days). Want to prevent extension? Make sure to cancel the Premium Account by October 30th at 11:59 PM.
To cancel your Premium Account, you can follow these steps:
- Log in to your Premium Account with your login details;
- Open the my account page and scroll down;
- Click on the Cancel Premium Account button and follow the on-screen instructions;
- Huurzone will send you an email, click the button to confirm;
- Your cancellation is complete, we will confirm this via email!
Prefer to cancel by post? Then send us a (registered) letter. You can find the details on our contact page. Don't forget to provide the client information, such as the account ID, your name and address.
Once you have unsubscribed from the Premium Account, the authorization you gave to Huurzone is revoked. After this date, you will no longer incur new recurring payments. The subscription is then terminated.
Respond to a property
On Huurzone, we take the hassle out of your search for rental homes by scanning and indexing listings from thousands of websites. When you find a property you're interested in, you can go directly to the landlord or estate agent's site to express your interest. Huurzone does not offer mediation services and has no influence over the communication between tenant and landlord.
Each property listing on Huurzone includes a link or reference to the source website. By clicking on it, you are taken straight to the original ad, where you can follow the steps to get in touch or arrange a viewing. Make sure to keep your profile details up-to-date so that you’re easily reachable by landlords who show interest.
Please note: Response times can vary by landlord or estate agent. Huurzone has no control over this and cannot guarantee that you will always receive a reply.
Each property listed on Huurzone has different terms and conditions associated with it. For instance, the landlord may require a certain income level. There might also be a minimum term for the contract, and pets might not be allowed. Sometimes these conditions are included in the property description. If they aren't mentioned, you can request this information from the landlord.
Want to make sure your message has been successfully sent? You can check under My Sent Messages in your profile. If your message is missing, something might have gone wrong. In that case, you can resend it. If it's listed there, then it's just a matter of waiting for the landlord to get in touch with you!
There are actually a couple of important points to keep in mind when contacting a landlord:
- If you receive an email in English or one that asks you to pay in advance via Western Union or MoneyGram, do not respond! Never transfer money without viewing the rental property first. Please forward a copy of this email along with the property details to us as soon as possible.
- Do not just send a copy of your payslip, bank account number, or identification without knowing who the landlord is and without having seen the rental property.
Our platform primarily offers rental properties that you can view without any additional costs and respond to directly. In some cases, we refer to external websites that require a paid registration.
- Don’t want to see properties from paid websites? You can easily disable this in your search settings.
- If a property is listed on both a free and a paid website, we always show the free version.
- If you encounter a property where you unexpectedly have to pay and this was not indicated, let us know and we will check it.
Not sure if a paid website adds value? You can test this yourself by temporarily enabling the option and seeing where most listings for your search appear. You can always adjust this again.
